Advice Portion

Dear Mrs. Maudie,

I’m only seven and I struggle to fit in! My brother Jem is the only sibling I have. I really wish I had a sister I could play with because I hate to be like my brother. What could I do to be more girly?

   Sincerely, Jean-Louise Finch

Dear Jean-Louise,
You simply must create friendships with other girls your age. Your relationships do not have to only be based around your family. Start talking to girls in your school and you will soon be growing more and more friends that are feminine.

   Happily, Mrs. Maudie

Dear Mrs. Maudie,
My daughter and son alongside one of their greatest friends, keep on trying to contact Arthur Radley. Either they’re sneaking around the house or just continuing to ask me questions about his trial. How can I get them away from their habits of bugging the poor man and get them to do what normal kids do and play in the tree house?

   Sincerely, Atticus Finch

Dear Atticus,

Seems to me like you have some trouble on your hands! Why don’t you send your little young guns over here to help me with my garden? I’m kidding, but you’ve got to give them something else that can keep their interest. Start a family project out in the yard or get them to help out with the community. You can always send them over here.

   Happily, Mrs. Maudie

Dear Mrs. Maudie,

My family has recently been having major financial problems since the crash. I can’t even afford to pay back a .25 cent loan. The only person I could think of to ask is you. How could I raise a little bit of money for my child’s lunch at school?

   Worried, Walter Cunningham

Dear Walter,

Ever thought of little chores around the neighbourhood? Fall has just past and you could have been picking up leaves for the older folks. Yet you’re in luck! Winter this year has given us a tiny bit of snow and you could go out and clean it up for some people. Heck! You could even get rid of that mess around my flower beds! You and your kids should get out there and earn some precious coin.

   Happily, Mrs. Maudie

Dear Mrs. Maudie,

I am not sure if you can help me with this, my father has recently beaten me because he witnessed me with a negroe… he saw me kissing him and he yelled at me and scared the negroe away. I Don’t exactly remember what had happened after that, all I remember is Mr. Heck Tate arriving at my house and trying to help me. What should I do?

   Sincerely, Mayella Ewell

Dear Mayella,

Hi Mayella, I heard about your situation in the paper this morning and you were raped and beating by the man Tom Robinson, or that’s what your dad has claimed. I’m looking forward to the trial but remember to speak the whole truth even if your father tells you to lie. If you need more help feel free to stop by whenever you need or want too.

   Confused, Mrs. Maudie
